Personal colour is a bookable K-beauty travel product
Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism placed one-to-one personalized colour analysis inside the 2026 Korea Beauty Festival, which was designed for international visitors. The same programme connected makeup, hair, fashion, skincare, wellness, and beauty-tourism bookings. That public record establishes personal colour as a current visitor experience in Korea. It does not establish that every studio follows one method or produces an objective verdict.MCST · 2026 Korea Beauty Festival
The Korea Tourism Organization reported that the festival’s wider exhibition connected international travellers with more than 800 K-beauty experience programmes across nine online travel agencies. Personal-colour consultations appeared within that larger market. A translated listing, a travel-platform checkout, and the actual service in the room are three separate things, so each needs its own check.VisitKorea · festival travel products MCST · international booking programme
Decide what you want the appointment to do before comparing providers. A traveller looking for a shared activity with a friend needs different conditions from someone who wants a detailed makeup-shopping reference. Write that purpose in one sentence. It will make duration, language, deliverables, add-ons, and location easier to compare than a feed full of reveal videos.
The same label can describe several different appointments
The 2026 festival documented an AI-based self-beauty experience labelled personal colour, while the ministry separately described one-to-one consultations with experts. Its participating-company page also described an AI kiosk and a proprietary colourimeter. These records show several service formats operating under related language. They do not independently validate an algorithm, a device, a seasonal label, or a consultant’s prediction.VisitKorea · Beauty House zone guide VisitKorea · participating companies MCST · one-to-one consultations
Current official Seoul listings make the variation visible. Color Signal is listed as a one-to-one service with recommendations for makeup, hair, and fashion. Colorholic’s Myeongdong listing combines personal colour with body analysis and K-beauty makeup, and says prices vary by programme. The Bom lists different session lengths according to the number of participants. None of those details should be copied to another studio or even another branch.Visit Seoul · Color Signal Visit Seoul · Colorholic Myeongdong Visit Seoul · The Bom Myeongdong
Ask the provider to name the sequence in plain language. Useful answers describe the number of people, drape comparison, camera or device use, makeup removal or application, product matching, body or face analysis, photographs, written results, and the time reserved for questions. A package name such as basic, premium, complete, or K-pop does not answer any of those points by itself.

Confirm that English support covers the actual consultation
An English website confirms that somebody translated a page. It does not tell you who will explain the drapes, answer follow-up questions, or translate the result sheet on your date. Visit Seoul currently lists English, Chinese, and Spanish service at Color Signal; English, Chinese, and Japanese interpretation at Colorholic Myeongdong; and interpretation in those three languages at The Bom. The wording differs, which is exactly why a visitor should ask how the language is delivered.Visit Seoul · Color Signal languages Visit Seoul · Colorholic interpretation Visit Seoul · The Bom interpretation
COCORY’s current Myeongdong product page says Korean and English are always available for that branch, with other languages offered on stated days. This is a provider-specific statement. Ask whether the consultant speaks English directly or works through an interpreter, whether interpretation uses appointment time, and whether the palette, written report, product list, and aftercare message are also available in English.COCORY · Myeongdong booking terms
Send one concrete question before paying: “Who will conduct the consultation in English, and which take-home materials will also be in English?” Save the answer with the booking. If the service relies on live interpretation, ask whether your group receives the same discussion time as a Korean-language appointment. A colour name you cannot use after leaving is a weak souvenir.
Build the total booking record before paying a deposit
Official Seoul listings show why a single citywide price or duration would mislead. Colorholic says prices vary by programme. The Bom publishes different time ranges for solo, two-person, and three-person sessions. Color Signal asks travellers to reserve in advance. These are examples of service variation, not a market average. Confirm the current page for the exact provider, branch, programme, date, and group size.Visit Seoul · variable programme pricing Visit Seoul · group-duration examples Visit Seoul · advance reservation note
A provider’s own checkout page is the right source for that provider’s current deposit, lateness, cancellation, rescheduling, companion, and payment rules. COCORY’s Myeongdong page, for example, publishes branch-specific arrival and change terms and says add-ons may be changed or added on site. Read the version attached to your exact booking; its page contains more than one policy block, which is another reason to request written confirmation when terms appear inconsistent.COCORY · current branch terms VisitKorea · COCORY visitor offer terms
Your booking record should fit on one screen: programme name, branch, date, start time, consultation duration, group size, consultation language, interpreter arrangement, total price, deposit, included deliverables, optional add-ons, companion rule, cancellation deadline, and late-arrival rule. Add the nearest station and the final walking route. This record is more useful than a screenshot of a creator saying a studio was worth it.
Book a branch that fits the day around it
The official Seoul records place the example services in different parts of the city: Colorholic and The Bom are listed in Myeongdong, while Color Signal is listed in Mapo. A brand name without a branch is therefore incomplete travel information. Confirm the Korean address, floor, building entrance, nearest station exit, and contact channel shown on your reservation. Search results, map pins, and creator captions can point to an older or different location.Visit Seoul · Colorholic Myeongdong access Visit Seoul · The Bom Myeongdong access Visit Seoul · Color Signal Mapo access
Place the session before the shopping district only when you genuinely want its vocabulary to guide the shops. Otherwise, treat it as one appointment among many and protect the rest of the day. Allow time to find an upstairs entrance, remove or reapply makeup if required, ask questions, receive the take-home material, and travel onward. A tightly stacked hair, makeup, photo, and personal-colour itinerary gives every delay the power to damage the next booking.
Avoid making a non-refundable appointment your first task after landing or your final task before an airport transfer. If the session matters, give it a recoverable place in the trip: a day when you can handle a branch change, interpreter problem, delayed start, or an appointment that runs longer than expected. Save the provider’s current contact channel offline. The best branch for a traveller is often the one whose language, cancellation terms, and location reduce uncertainty, not the one that appears most often in a short video.
Follow the chosen studio’s preparation rules, not internet folklore
COCORY’s current instructions ask personal-colour clients at its Myeongdong branch to avoid high collars that interfere with draping, avoid facial treatments that may change the appearance of skin tone, and arrive in light daily makeup. The page separately gives different preparation for makeup services. These instructions belong to that provider and selected service. Another studio may request a bare face, neutral clothing, contact-lens removal, or something else.COCORY · clothing and makeup guidance
The same booking page advises arriving shortly before the reservation, warns that a rushed arrival can leave visible redness, and suggests avoiding an international arrival day because a delayed flight can collide with the appointment. The useful lesson is logistical: leave a travel buffer and follow the exact branch’s instructions. It is not evidence that one temporary condition reveals or conceals a permanent colour identity.COCORY · arrival guidance
Ask what happens to glasses, coloured contact lenses, dyed hair, facial hair, head coverings, and makeup during the comparison. Ask whether the studio supplies wipes or skincare, whether cosmetics will touch your face, and whether you can use your own products if you have an allergy or sensitivity. If the service includes body analysis, ask about clothing and touch separately. Consent belongs to each step, not to the deposit as a whole.
Separate what was observed from what was interpreted
A session may use fabric drapes, a camera, an app, an AI kiosk, a colourimeter, a consultant’s eye, or several of these together. The Korea Tourism Organization’s festival records document that such tools were offered. They do not establish that every tool measures the same variable, has been independently validated, or produces a recommendation that will remain consistent across rooms, photographs, makeup, and consultants.VisitKorea · AI personal-colour experience VisitKorea · kiosk and colourimeter listing
Ask the consultant to separate three layers: what they observed under the session conditions, the category or score produced by a tool, and the styling advice they inferred. Then ask for one example you can test yourself, such as comparing two lip colours or two scarf tones under ordinary light. A clear explanation is more portable than a label delivered without the reasoning behind it.
Photography and data deserve their own questions. Confirm whether photographs or video are required, optional, stored, shared with an app, used for marketing, or posted to social media. Ask whether an AI or camera tool retains an image and whether you can complete the session without that feature. Do not assume that agreeing to analysis also grants permission for public content.
Use the result as a shopping note, not a rulebook
A palette can give you practical vocabulary: warmer or cooler, lighter or deeper, clearer or softer, higher or lower contrast. Use that vocabulary to compare items you already own before buying replacements. Photograph the take-home card in neutral light, write down the examples that made sense in the room, and note where your own preference disagreed. The useful record includes uncertainty.
If the studio recommends cosmetics, ask whether the item is sold by the studio, supplied by a partner, linked through an affiliate arrangement, or simply used as an example. You may decline a purchase and still keep the consultation. Check the actual package for ingredients, responsible seller, use-by information, precautions, and claims. A palette match does not establish that a product suits your skin or performs as advertised.
A seasonal label cannot determine attractiveness, identity, confidence, employability, or what you are allowed to wear. It cannot diagnose a skin condition. Keep colours you enjoy outside the suggested group. The appointment has earned its place in your trip if it leaves you with clearer questions and a usable record. It does not need authority over the rest of your wardrobe.
